GA Minutes – Thursday, April 19, 2012

Announcements:
On Saturday May 12th there is an event called The Gift Market sponsored by the Stone Soup Project
at Robinson Park on  10-4.  It is a Gift Market/Give Away.

On Saturday Apr. 28th there is a “We Are Women” march from 10-2 in
Santa Fe starting at the Roundhouse. It is put on by United Against
the War on Women and is part of a national day of events. Occupy Santa
Fe asked us to be involved. We discussed getting more information
before we do so.

On Apr. 26-28th the Gathering of Nations PowWow takes place here in
Albuquerque at the NM Arena’s “pit.”  We discussed flyering there.
Natalie is going and will pass out FAQ’s and (un)occupy flyers.

On Friday Apr. 27th there will be a Republican fundraising dinner with
Governor Martinez hosting Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. The
location is currently unknown, it is likely a residence. There was
discussion of a possible action, signs/picketing.

One Sat May 21, there is a MASE (Multicultural Alliance for a Safe
Environment) meeting from 9-3.  Someone from (un)occupy should go.

Working Groups:
Foreclosure group will meet May 4th @ Yale Park 6:30pm

the Outreach Group is still needing members

Agenda:
We discussed attending the Earth Day event this Sunday Apr. 22nd that
is held behind Montanita Co-op in Knob Hill to pass our flyers for the May Day
event.  Some of us will meet at 11am to flyer a bit before Sunday’s GA

Discussed the 99% Spring Training lack of civil disobedience training.
The Ruckus Society expressed interest in coming to ABQ and leading a
training for (un)occupy and others on May Day.  We discussed inviting
all the student groups that worked on the mock wall.

The schedule for May Day still isn’t finalized because we’re waiting
for more details about what events will take place before and what
events we are contributing to after at the Robinson Park Rally.  We
decided to have 2-3 speakers at the UNM rally before the march, one of
which should be a UNM student that works with (un)occupy to talk about
how students are effected by the issues that (un)occupy raises.  Other
possible speakers are Nadine Padilla from MASE and her colleague. We
also discussed having peace keepers or march marshals.  While
peacekeepers may not be needed marshals may be a good idea.  Will
continue discussion of May Day at Friday’s coalition meeting at
Encuentro @ 5pm.
